Meet Orrin Asmus — 94 Years Young and Still Behind the Wheel
McLaughlin Freight is incredibly proud of our driver Orrin Asmus of Middletown, Iowa — a man who has been driving semis for over 70 years and has logged nearly 5 million miles on the road. At 94 years old, Orrin is currently seeking the Guinness World Records title of Oldest Truck Driver (Male). The current record holder is a 92-year-old from Kansas, and Orrin has his sights set on the top.
Orrin first climbed into a semi at age 19 to haul livestock on U.S. 30 from Manning, Iowa to Chicago — before interstates even existed. He has since hauled grain, milk, farm equipment, industrial machinery, lumber, and more across all 48 lower states. He holds a Million Mile Safe Driver award from his time at Walmart, and for the past 11 years has called McLaughlin Freight home — coming in not because he needs to, but because he loves the work and the people. McLaughlin Freight has submitted Orrin's birth certificate, pay stubs, and documentation to Guinness World Records and is awaiting their final ruling.
"Orrin is a testament to what dedication, passion, and a love for the road looks like. We are honored to have him on our team."
